Your MLM Is Not Making Money Because You're Not Using Common Sense!

It was a great plan. A company will employ a sales force of satisfied customers that will in turn recommend a product to their friends and family. For doing so, they will be compensated with a discount in price or receive a commission for the products that the people in their ""network"" purchase, based on their ""marketing"" efforts.

It was a win-win for everyone. The customer won because he received a discount on a quality product that he was already using. Plus he was paid for recommending these products to his friends. The company won because it did not have to spend countless dollars on monstrous ad campaigns. It did not have the headache of maintaining a salaried sales force. And finally paid money AFTER a sale was made. It sounded like the perfect system.

But then along came the charlatans and scammers that gave the industry a black eye. These people and companies tarnished the promise of network marketing, turning mlm into a four letter word.

Now the entire industry is topsy turvey. Companies and senior uplines simply focus on recruiting. They tell you that it is all a numbers game and that you just have to plug more people into the system. It is all about your warm market and your warm market's warm market. Leaders sit in training meeting and conferences telling you to find more people. ""Go wide."" ""Go Deep."" There is a huge focus on building your network... but what about the marketing.

Ignoring the marketing aspect of your business is like lifting weights with your right arm while ignoring your left. It just doesn't make sense. It creates an imbalance, and this misalignment in network marketing's Feng-Shui, I'm convinced, is the reason that most people are failing in this industry. This strategy violates the motivations that created the industry and just does not make common sense.

You must market you product. If you represent a product that you would not buy if there wasn't some financial compensation tied to it... find a new product! Then market the hell out of it. Find customers that are happy with the product. This will accomplish two things. It will put money in your pocket quickly (the reason you got into business in the first place). And it will provide you with a happy customer that will be more than willing to introduce this product to his friends and family. This person will be more open to becoming part of your downline, thus providing you with residual income (which is why we chose network marketing as our business)

I am not saying that you should ignore the recruiting aspect of your business. I am telling you to balance the scales. Thus, you will have achieved harmony in the yin-yang of your network marketing universe. With a evenhanded approach you will have more upfront income, from your marketing efforts. And with happy customers instead of ""perpetual opportunity seekers"" in your downline, they are more likely to stay in the business instead of hoping into the next big opportunity.

MLM Training- Don't Talk to Strangers! Good or Bad Advice?

In our life growing up, we were taught a lesson that was very good advice for children. ""Don't talk to strangers!"" That is great advice and wise counsel for kids in today's world. I even taught my daughter that when she was a toddler. And I will admit, it was a concern of mine with all the meaness and trouble in the world today.

""Don't talk to strangers!"" is still good advice for network marketers as well, if you want to remain a baby in the mlm industry. People will tell you that you are not to talk to strangers as they will reject you.

God forbid.

There are many different philosophies in the MLM industry today, and many are good and some are not so good. You need to find what works for you. But the one thing that will not change is the Truth, and all that comes with it.

The Truth is, talking to strangers can be one of the best things you could do for your business. Anyone who tells you different does not understand what it takes to Succeed in this mlm business.

I have always taught one thing about people that you do not know, better known as the Cold market:

Stangers are simply friends that you have not met yet. Period.

The benefits to talking to people you do not know are enormous, unless someone is trying to sell you the latest and greatest tape of the month CD, website, or DVD telling you not to. Nothing wrong with that. There are some great trainers out there. But you have to ask, what are their intentions... to guide you to Success or something else?

What are those benefits?

1) Talking to Strangers Forces You to Grow.

Personal development is everything in life, and network marketing. It is what keeps your check growing, and your Success growing. And it is what guarantees you not being the same person you are this year, next year. Your income will always grow as you do. Yes, talking to people you do not know to sell them something or recruit them may be a little uncomfortable, but don't talk to them for that reason.

Talk to them to see simply get to know them as a friend, as you do not know evn if MLM will be for them or not. It may not be! But what have you lost by talking to them? Nothing. And you could gain a new friend that could help you find someone who MLM is for.

Talking to strangers grows you on the inside, and helps build within you better people skills and communication skills in network marketing. It grows your leadership, and also your recruiting skills. And most importantly, it grows you to a new level of confidence and knowing you can Succeed in this business.

2) Talking to Strangers Extends Your Reach.

The single most valuable prospecting reason to talk to people you have never met is that it EXTENDS YOUR REACH in the marketplace.

There are about 270 million people in the US alone, and most people today, if you are 25 years or older, know about 1000 folks.

So what that says to the network marketer, is that there are about 249,999,000 people to go for you to talk to. You reach in the marketplace needs to be extended daily. THAT IS PART OF ANY BUSINESS PLAN. It is part of network marketing. And here is the great news...

Everybody that you do not know, knows a person that could EXPLODE your mlm business! What is wrong with finding them?

3) Talking to Strangers develops new Relationships.

The secret to Successful leadership in network marketing is RELATIONSHIPS. And some of the multi million dollar producers in our group were people we did not know, but did meet, and they went on to become some of my greatest friends and still are today. One ""stranger"" I met by accident ended up producing 10 million in volume. And it became and still is a great relationship as well as friendship. If I had not been blessed to meet him and talk to him, because I did not know him, my life would have not been enriched like it has been from knowing him.

If you are looking to develop new relationships that will last a lifetime, many folks that you will meet over the course of your career will be those people.

4) Talking to Strangers is a myth in MLM. There are no strangers. It depends on your perspective.

I do not look at people I do not know as ""strange."" They simply are friends that I have not connected with. Are they interested in the things that I am? Who knows? Many will not be.

But if you truly understand the driving force behind MLM, you will never meet a stranger. Only people who are after something from someone with their own selfish agenda meets strangers. People who are in the life changing business and are what we call ""Transformation Specialists,""(TM) are interested in people that they can help, not be concerned that they do know them.

My advice is simply this:

If you want to remain a baby in this MLM business, then don't talk to strangers. SIMPLE AND PLAIN.

But if you desire to grow beyond the average, succeed beyond the average, get paid beyond the average, lead beyond the average, communicate beyond the average, make a difference beyond the average, and have a lifestyle beyond the average, then TALK TO STRANGERS.

It's your call. But speaking from experience, if you don't talk to strangers, you will end up limiting and restricting your Success massively in MLM and Network Marketing.

Leaders of Waiora and Other Top Network Marketing Companies Recognize a Balance of Offline and Online Building Are Keys To Solid Success

""To grow a large organization in network marketing, you must have a strong Internet presence."" Myth or true? There have been three types of distributors when it comes to the Internet, the ""guru's"", the ""newbies"" and the ""ostriches"".

In the past, as the Internet grew in popularity, there is no question that those who were talented profited from marketing on the Internet. Born were ""Internet Guru's"", those that had that talent understood the capabilities of reaching millions of people at pennies of a cost. They saw their volume bolster, customers pouring in, but their success wasn't necessarily measured in organizational volume, but rather hits and visits on their webpages. They became instantly popular within their own company as others clamored to find out what they knew, their secrets to their Internet success. Superstars were born overnight.

Newbies are those distributors that knew a little about the Internet, knew a little about marketing and knew a little about this industry. They jumped on the bandwagon and started devoting their time and energy to Internet marketing and they failed, some miserably. Desperate distributors began paying hundreds and thousands of dollars to ""experts"" of web marketing only to find themselves in a pool of countless others trying to do the same and competition became fierce. Frustration took over where confidence once was home. Those that did manage to market feebly on the Internet, learned how harsh the cyber world was, words like ""spam"" no longer was meat in a can, and ""flaming"" was no longer just about Banana's Foster.

The Ostriches are the distributors that tried to stick their head in the sand. Those rebellious distributors refused to believe the Internet was here to stay, didn't go near it, and laughed at anyone who thought they could make a nickel from it. They believed it was just a phase, there was no place for the Internet in their business, and condemned anyone in their group from using it. Ever try to tell someone that they couldn't do something?

What later became a realization is that the Internet should not be used as a sole means to marketing your business, gathering leads, and prospecting, but rather in conjunction with offline techniques. Whether you are a Guru who remains faceless behind websites and posts, or a Newbie that is frustrated with lack of results, or even those Ostriches who hesitate to logon and would rather get sand in their ears, each group must realize how they have short changed their own business and themselves. After coming to terms with this realization, next work on the solution. If you recognize your strengths, you can work on your weaknesses. Master those and you will be a powerful network marketer. If you go to any top leader and ask them what they do to grow a business, it will be a balanced combination of offline and online marketing. If you are unbalanced, either only doing offline or only doing online, you are missing out on so much potential growth. If you are a Guru, you already know you can build your business online. Now challenge yourself to pick up your phone and call prospects, do a three-way, build rapport with a voice, not an email. If you are a Newbie, you are more likely to understand you need to be balanced, you started there. Just go back to what you know works. Don't abandon offline or online, just work both in balance. For Ostriches, start by seeing what others are out there doing in your company. Go to www.google.com, or www.yahoo.com or even www.msn.com and type in your Company's name. See what pops up. Go explore. Get comfortable.

Those that enjoy solid success in Network Marketing will be masters at offline and online marketing. The bottom line is in order to take your business to the next level, become teachable to learn new techniques. Caution however against going unbalanced yet again. Remain humble. If you are a Guru, then seek the advice and help of some Ostriches in your group. Help each other. That is the beauty of our business. When you work as a team, together you can accomplish more.

6 Surefire Ways To Profit From Your Network Marketing Program

1. Join A Quality Network Marketing Program That Has A Good System To Help You Build Your Own Paid Downlines.

Every experienced Network Marketer knows that in Network Marketing the money is in the Paid Downlines who stay and grow.

Therefore, it is so important to make sure that the Network Marketing program you want to join has a good system to help you build and grow your own Paid Downlines.

You know a Network Marketing Program has that kind of system, if they provide you with the following:

1a. Professional Website. (Easy to load, easy to navigate, easy to read and grasp information.)

1b. Powerful sales letter in the website. (The one which is so convincing that turns visitors into downlines.)

1c. List Building System in the website. (Offer something valuable for free to capture the visitors' email addresses, so you can follow-up with your Autoresponder Series.)

1e. Powerful Built in Autoresponder Messages. Let me explain.

Let's say you want to buy responsive and quality leads from Marty Foley's well-known Lead Factory, but your budget for that purpose is only $150. With this cash, you can only get $0.30 per lead.

Now, you can ask your downline to do Ad Co-op with you. If you can get 9 downlines who are willing to pay $150 each, your budget becomes $1500. With this money, you can get leads for $0.22 each. So everyone will get 681 leads instead of 500 for the same $150.

What if you just start and don't have any downline yet? Easy. Ask your upline(s) to organize it for you.

4. Get As Many Targeted Prospects As Possible To Trigger Your Autoresponder

You want to do this because you need to expose your series of sales messages to people who are in needs of what you have to offer. The more targeted prospects who send emails to your autoresponder email address, the better.

Apart from importing quality leads you purchase into your autoresponder as explained in point 3, you can also do it by promoting your autoresponder address through:

4a. Ezine Advertising.

Run Solo Ads or Top Sponsor Ads or Classified ads in Ezines of which the subscribers match your prospect criteria. Give them something valuable for FREE to send a blank email to your autoresponder email address. Trust me, it works. I've personally gained hundreds of prospects using this tactic alone.

4b. Google Adwords Advertising

When you use this method, it's like displaying your classified ad in the entire network of Google. It can be displayed million times but you only pay when someone clicks your link. And when they do, they are very targeted. They are your hot prospects.

Therefore, make sure that the link you put in your ad, is the one that directs them to a web page that will make them send their email addresses to your autoresponder address.

4c. Smart Use of Quality Traffic Exchanges or Start Page Exchanges or Hit Exchanges programs.

These programs are free to join and this is how they works: When you join, they will give you a ""surfing"" URL that contains so many web pages in rotation. Usually, you get one credit for each page you surf for 30 seconds. For every 2 credits you've got, they will display your Target URL to other member once.

Nowadays, there are hundreds of them. But the quality ones are not that many. When you use this method, don't put your Network Marketing Program homepage as the target URL. Your target URL should be a web page that offers something so valuable for free to motivate your prospects to send their email addresses to your autoresponder address.

4d. Getting involved in MLM forums

Go to google.com. Research MLM forums. Join the ones that suit you. Don't write any ads at all. Introduce yourself. Involve in discussion that interests you. Provide intelligent answers only in the topic you really know. Invite people to send blank emails to your autoresponder only in your Signature file.

If your posts make people think that you are an expert, chances are you'll get a lot of hot prospects sending blank emails to your autoresponder address.

4e. Quality Article Writing

Once you've gained some experiences that people might like to know about and to learn from, start writing quality articles and submit it to as many article directories and ezines as possible.

If you can put in quality content that your readers like and find it useful, you've built a good reputation. And usually they don't mind to visit your website or subscribe to your mailing list.

And when they do, they are also very targeted and they are also your hot prospects.

Don't forget to use Ad Tracking Device for every promotional tactic and ad you use to know which one gives you the best results.

5. Repeat The Methods That Work Until You Gain Significant Profits

If the methods you receive from your upline work, repeat it. If not, forget it. The same thing goes for other tactics explained in this article.

If you keep repeating what works, chances are you will gain significant profits in no time. What I mean by significant is the amount you receive per month from a particular program is at least 10 times its monthly fee.

Once you reach this stage then...

6. Ask Your Friends To Join Under You And Persuade Them To Do What You Have Done

The objective of multi-level marketing (MLM) is to sell the product or service and to encourage the client to become an independent distributor, who then sells the service or product as well. Leads are vital for any business to grow, and in order for the business owner to have the greatest success, the leads must be curious enough in the business opportunity to have expressed an interest. The prospects that have expressed an interest in becoming distributors are known as Targeted MLM Leads.

Sometimes, in MLM and network marketing, it sees when you say those words, network marketers shut down. They simply think that they will start again January 1, and kick it into gear. Network Marketing during the holidays does not exist, and they slow down to a crawl.

Who in the world sold you on that?

That is simply a dumb thing to do.

Yes, during the holidays, people are busy, and people are going places, shopping, and do not want to think about a home based business many times.

But it's because of the focus of ther networker. Many mlm distributors do not know how to work this business and hold conversations during the holiays. Your focus must be different than any other time of the year.

It takes a little finesse.

And you still have many things going for you that will work totally in your favor,and help kick your mlm business into gear the first of the year.

What 2 things are working in your favor during the holidays that makes it easy to create success in your Network marketing business?

1) People are in the Holiday Emotion.

Many folks are in the emotion of sentimental memories. They are remembering past Holdays and their favorite Christmas. They are thinking about the smell of pie and turkey. They are remembering their childhood. They are thinking of parents long past. And many are thinking about the Birth of Christ.

How can you move people to a real powerful emotion that draws them to you?

Ask this:

""What is your favorite holiday memory? Tell me about it.""

People really will think about this, and then will give you their answer. And many times they get excited just thinking about it.

Why would you ask them this?

To open them up, and let the emotion of the Holidays flow, and draw them towards you. This simply will create an opening to talk to them after the first of the year.

""I would love to chat with you the first of the year. I could really use some help on something.""

This simply will open the door to ask for their help in locating some talent for your business or customers that can benefit form your products.

2) People are in the Holiday Focus.

People are focused on many things during this time of the year. One focus is CHANGE.

People are looking to change things more than any other time of the year.

People are focused on EXPECTATION.

They are expecting and anticipating a great holiday season, and also a better new year. Talk to them about the change you can offer in their life. But set a time that is convenient for them.

People are focused on SHOPPING.

There is no better place to meet people than Holiday shopping.

Talk to them about their children. Compliment their children. Ask them about their plans for the holidays. Ask if you can help someone who is struggling with bags of gifts. Talk to people about the crowds in the malls. Talk to people about the prices of goods today. Ask people for their opinion on something you are thinking about buying.

Shopping is a great way for men and women to meet folks who are out and about. Especially in toy stores and books stores. These are great places to meet folks who have kids, and are readers. Readers and parents are great MLM prospects.

And retail clerks who are tired and harried are great prospects to talk to about changing things in 2006.

Change.

It is the new year, and for the next 6 weeks or so, many people will be looking to make changes and to not repeat last year, this year! And it is a wonderful recruiting time, and you hold what we call a 'Seasonal Conversation' with folks.

The Secret to A Network Marketing Business in 2006. We all know that the secret to this Network Marketing business is EFFECTIVE CONVERSATION. We have been teaching that for 19 years. As well as effective Communication. We are in the business of Communicating with people, and you can hold a 'Conversation of Change' with people right now that will go hand in glove with their thinking.

After the question or statement:

Network Effectively Online

There are many ways to boost your business online - writing articles, search engine optimization, acquiring incoming links - the list goes on; but one of the best ways which is often overlooked is to find forums relating to your line of business and join in with them.

Being a frequent participant on forums can increase links back to your website, increase your chances of being seen as an expert, increase your mailing list, sell more of your product, get new affiliates to sign up, make you new friends - in fact there's not a lot to be said against joining a few forums. However, there are some things to think about before you get started:

DO:

1. Research each forum before you join. Make sure it's relevant to your business and see if the participants are in your target market. Look at how much traffic the forum gets. How busy is it? - there's no point in joining a dead forum with very few posts.

2. Check the forum rules before you post. Some forums will allow you to post adverts for your business while others will object. Check if you are allowed to add a signature at the end of your posts - adding a small biography with a web link to your business is a great way to increase incoming links to your site and to get more traffic.

3. Be polite and treat everyone the way you would like to be treated. Even though you don't meet people face to face you will build up some great relationships if you take the time to give good answers to questions, to be helpful and to respect other people's opinions. And every post you answer adds to your reputation. Use your posts to give genuine, useful advice, not just to plug your business and you'll soon be looked on as an expert.

4. Don't be afraid to ask for advice - no-one knows everything and sometimes you will need help.

5. To make the most of your time on the forums, allow yourself only a certain amount of time each day. Read only the posts that are relevant and that interest you and post answers quickly before moving on. It's very easy to spend the whole day on forums and not get anything else done.

DON'T:

1. Never, ever use a post to blatantly advertise your business, particularly if the forum rules don't allow it. Nothing will damage your reputation faster than spamming a forum.

2. Don't go through the list of forum members, collect email addresses and send them unsolicited mail. At best you'll be banned from the forum and at worst the owners might report you to your ISP.

3. Don't ever get involved in a flame war (this is when a heated conversation on a forum boils over and degenerates into nothing but an exchange of personal insults). It might be really satisfying to say what you think about someone, especially if they've been getting on your nerves, but just imagine what other people will think of you if you do.

In conclusion, treat people online like you treat people in real life. Think of it as a networking event that's taking place on your computer and don't forget that other posts on the forums are made by real people with real feelings.

You already know how to make friends and new contacts face to face. Apply what you already know to online networking and you could be enjoying great success with a global audience.

MLM Heavy Hitters Shovel It In Texas - And Elsewhere

A few years ago I got a phone call from a lady in Texas. Sometime earlier, she had started a major corporation, whose name you know. It probably had a branch in your town. It's since been bought out by an even bigger fish.

Anyway, this lady was very gracious. She was going to start an MLM company, and she wanted feedback from some MLM leaders on what she was doing. She flew Linda & me to what must have been the biggest ranch in all of Texas.

We were there 3 days, along with several MLM ""Heavy Hitters"".

***They Told Her She Had a HUGE Winner!***

She showed us her products and she showed us her compensation plan, and she asked for our thoughts.

The Big Boys (and Girls) were flabbergasted by her wonderful products and astonished by her compensation plan.

Every single one of them wanted to be THE master distributor, so she would build the company under them.

***The Painful Truth***

When my turn came, I told her the truth: she was dead in the water. She had a bunch of ""me-too"" products. And her compensation plan was from the dark ages of MLM, piling up money for the leaders and sacrificing all the part-timers who would hope to fulfill their lifelong dream of having their own business.

With this comp plan, the part-timers were destined to fail. They'd never understand why. They would blame themselves, and many would never take the risk again.

Dora (not her real name) pulled me aside before we left and thanked me. Somehow, despite all the smoke coming from the MLM Heavy Hitters, she knew Truth when she heard it.

She stuck to the business she knew.

But if the Heavy Hitters would try pulling that stuff with one of the richest women in the country, imagine what they'd figure they could put over on YOU!

***Have You Fallen For The All-Time Favorite Heavy Hitter Line?***

Tell me you've never heard THIS one before:

""Go get one hundred NO's every day. You're just getting closer to a YES.""

Think about this. Isn't it the stupidest thing? What nitwit came up with this idea? The word ""NO"" has taken more good people out of network marketing that any other word in the English language.

Picture this: all day long you've been flirting with your spouse. At night you take a bath, candles around the tub, soft music, perfect for romance. Some hugging, some kissing.

And your spouse says ""NO!""

GREAT! Just 99 more ""NO""s and you'll get lucky! And those MLM Heavy Hitters tell you ""NO"" is a good thing.

***More Heavy Hitter Marketing Insanity***

Another bit of wonderful Hitter advice for you: ""Talk to EVERYBODY about your business opportunity.""

Oh, man, don't get me started!

There's an old saying you hear from time to time: the reason you have 2 ears and 1 mouth is you should LISTEN twice as much as you TALK.

Take a good look next time you see a Heavy Hitter. I swear, if you look closely, you'll see they have zero ears and THREE MOUTHS!

But for the sake of argument, let's see where their advice leads us.

Let's say you owned a shoe store. You get 300 visitors. If you have the right styles, colors, & price, could you sell some shoes? Absolutely.

But you'd never try fitting a corporate Secretary working at the Trump Towers with men's construction work boots. Not appropriate.

And not everyone wants your business opportunity.

""Talk to everybody"" works great for the MLM Heavy Hitters - the 8% of the population who are salespeople. But if you're part of the 92% who hate pushy, aggressive salespeople, THIS lie will make you feel totally inadequate to ever build a networking business.

***The Key Is Target Marketing***

If you're recruiting, just talk to people who want a home business. Lead with benefits. Tell success stories so that REAL prospects see the value in your offer. And NEVER close them. Just offer them more information. The right people will ask to work with you.

Believe me, it works just that way.

Pony On A Rope

What a day this is turning out to be....

If you have been with me for a while, you know the story of how my dream came to an abrupt conclusion last November when I received the dreaded ""dear joe, your services are no longer required"" email from the company I helped build; the company that 3 years ago was so important to me, that I left the comfort of my Chicago town house and moved all the way to Scottsdale to be part of.

On that sunny November morning that I received that email, truth be known Gail and I broke out the champaign, and had a celebration! And the champaign did a great job of masking the feeling of uncertainty and a little fear as well.

We had just closed on our new home, exactly 7 days before the email arrived. Big mortgage; big overhead; big void in income. The only thing we had was desire, experience and imagination.

While those are great personality traits to possess, uh, the bank will not accept them as payment of the mortgage.

So the last 6 months have been a rollercoaster ride to say the least. Lots of ups and downs lots of anxiety and joy; and most importantly an unwavering belief in the things that matter most; persistence, consistency, and and absolute confidence in the fact that my outcome is predetermined by my thoughts, my daily action and the ability follow through.

We have been ""getting by"" comfortably...but getting by doesn't excite me nor does it validate what I beleive and teach. I have to dominate, to dream big and live big to be the human manifestation of what I teach my students each day, or I am, as my mother used to say, so ""full of it my eyes are brown"".

Well I do practice what I teach; I am committed to daily goal setting and goal getting; to visualization; to understanding and harnessing the ""law of attraction"", and to never saying never, walking thorugh the door way or infinte possibility and endless opportunity.

I have to tell you the fish are jumping in the boat; my phone has been ringing off the hook with so much opportunity I feel like a fat guy at a smorgasbord!

On this day I have been contacted by 3 established network marketing companies, inquiring about my consulting services and ready to put their money where their mouth is.

Pretty Cool.

I am also putting the finishing touches on the Million Dollar Edge Success System which will ship in the beginning of May; and one of my online marketing programs is hitting like a one arm bandit in Vegas.

Which brings me to the pony on a rope.

All of the cool things that are happening for us are the result of living on the roller coaster at the carnival of life. There ups and there are downs and there are breathtaking moments as we approach another unknown twist or turn, but the pay off is always invigorating. And we are alive and well at the end of the day.

The pony at the carnival? He lives on a rope. Walking in the same circle doing the same thing and getting the same result each and every day.

A sad thing.

If you took the pony off the rope and set him free, he would continue to walk aimlessly in that circle.....a fate worse than death.

My point is this....take the plunge, follow your dream, get on the rollercoaster and enjoy the ride. Just remember the basic things I know will work for you. Goal Setting; Visualization; Law of Attraction and Follow Through.

There is no future in working for another. You may feel secure working a J.O.B. but so does that pony, he loves the security of the rope; but where does it get him? No-where. He just walks in a circle. All day long.

I thought I was comfortable early last November, but as I look back I see I was a pony on someone elses rope. I thought I was in free enterprise, I was kidding myself; I was only working for someone else...... A fate worst than death.

Free Enterprise, self employment, network marketing, direct sales; these are your ticket off the pony rope. Dream Big, Live Big!

Now, all of this carnival talk is making me hungry;

A Bond-ing Experience

Good afternoon my friend, It is actually still morning as I sit here in the valley of the sun crafting this up-date; as I promised I would. So if you are in the west time zones, good morning to you west-coasters as well.

Had a great time last night at the old ball yard. Gail and I took my brother David and his bunch to the Arizona Diamondbacks- San Francisco Giants game last night. (the only good part of living in a city with a ""weak"" team is that you can get a ticket under face value from the scalpers!)

Well when we arrived at the game and were in line to get our dollar hot dogs; Wednesday is dollar hot dog day at Chase Field, (don't tell my trainer that I had 2 of them bad boys) we saw on the TV monitor that there was a ceremony taking place on the field before the game began. Seems as though a guy named Luis Gonzalez had made history the night before by hitting a double thus becoming only the 21st player in the history of the game to hit 300 homers and 500 doubles. Pretty impressive; would you agree?

I have not done the research but I can only imagine how many athletes have played the game since it's inception and Luis Gonzalez, home town hero, is number 21 on the list. Very cool, congratulations ""Gonzo"". Now... let me share with you this mornings revelation; The reason I was most interested in going to the game; the stuff the local and national media is writing about; the story that is on the cover of Sports Illustrated? Barry Bonds. Yes, Barry Bonds left fielder for the San Francisco Giants. Here is the messed up part..... The big story is not that Barry Bonds is one of the 20 guys ahead of Luis Gonzalez or that he is only 6 homers behind Babe Ruth for 2nd on the all time home run list and 47 behind Henry Aaron for all time home run hitter. No; the story every one is talking about is the allegations that Barry Bonds is on the juice; steroids baby. I say..who cares. Steroids were not a banned substance at the time of the allegations. Besides, baseball is a game; it is entertainment and is there anything more entertaining than watching a Barry Bonds moon shot clear the wall in center field? Now I think you are asking yourself; Joe what in the heck are you telling me this for? Well...it's about what you think about talk about and what you put in your brain.Does thinking about or talking about or writing about the tarnish on Barry Bonds legacy empower any of us? Does it?

Nope...it's more water cooler gossip and negative conversation that only drags us down and accentuates the negative.

Give your energy and your focus your conversation and your thoughts to the things that will celebrate the positive that is around us and within us. For some, yours truly included, this is a discipline that must always be practiced. We must always check our thoughts and our focus and make a calculated decision to shut out the negative mumbo-jumbo that is everywhere, and only give life to the thoughts and things that empower life, that lift us up, and draw our attention to what is possible in our lives. It is really simple to do and you will get really good at it when you just take those extra seconds to take notice of what you are giving your energy to.

Oh....and one more thing;

The Diamondbacks beat the Giants 10 to 3;

Luis Gonzalez went 2 for 4 with a triple and 3 runs batted in.

Barry Bonds did not play; but he did receive a $5000 fine from Major League Baseball for wearing non-conforming wrist bands.

Talking To Yourself Again? What Are You Saying?

We all have Self Talk.

So what is Self-Talk?

Simply put Self-Talk is the running dialogue in your head. It's the words you use to describe the experiences in your life.

It's the words you use when you have challenges. It's the words you use when you're speaking to others.

Hmmmmm sounds like your daily vocabulary.

Look you must realize the power your words command and then choose them wisely.

Anthony Robins said in his book Awaken The Giant Within. ""People with an impoverished vocabulary live an impoverished emotional life; people with rich vocabularies have a multitude palette of colors with which to paint their experience, not only for others, but for themselves as well"".

Many of us don't realize the words we habitually choose to use effect how we communicate with ourselves and therefore what we experience.

Words are very powerful, they can help or heal. They can make us cry or laugh. They can create or destroy. They can comfort or cause pain.

Words create emotions, and those words create action, and from those actions your life is formed. Most of your beliefs are created by words, which means they can also be changed by words.

Simply choosing new words to describe how you're feeling or how you experienced an event can instantly change the emotional experience.

If you describe a fantastic experience as being ""Ok"". That experience is now diminished and flat because of your limited use of words.

You're in control of your life, so you need to consciously evaluate and keep improving the content of your vocabulary to make sure it's pulling you in the direction you desire instead of a direction you want to avoid.

Here's a great example I heard from Anthony Robbins after hearing him speak about this subject at one of his live seminars. After that I re-evaluated my Self-Talk (years ago). And it changed my life BIG TIME!!!!.

Quote: ""If you're in the habit of saying you ""hate"" things-- you ""hate"" your hair; you ""hate"" your job; you ""hate"" having to do something. Do you think this raises the intensity of your negative emotional state than if you used a phrase like ""I prefer something else""? End quote.

Change the phrase from ""I hate"" to the phrase ""I prefer"".

Could it be that simple?

""I'd prefer an new car"", I'd prefer an new hairdo"" I'd prefer a new job"", I'd prefer new clothes"". ""I'd prefer to do something else"".

The intensity of those statements dropped big time because you used different words.

I know this for a fact. If you simply change your habitual vocabulary, and these would be the words you consistently use to describe your life and your emotions.

If you change your habitual vocabulary you can instantaneously change how think, how you feel and how you LIVE!!

I really want to drive this home to you. You're Self-Talk that you're using right now is determining your destiny. Think about that for a second (maybe a little longer). Your words are shaping your beliefs and impacting your actions.

Much of where you are in life right now is due to your Self-Talk. So if you're using words that are disempowering. CHANGE THEM!!! to words that will empower you.

How do you know what you're Self-Talk is? Simple really. When an event or challenge happens in your life how do you react, what do you say? If you're saying it out loud you're probably saying it to yourself, and vice versa.

Here are some examples, and these are from many of the people I speak to on a daily basis. It may be different for you.

When something happens a challenge in your life, do you say to yourself?

""Why does this always happen to me?"" or ""Why did this have to happen now?""

Are your answers something like this?

""It happened because I'm not lucky"".

""It happened because I'm not smart enough"".

""It happened because I wasn't prepared"".

Poor choice of words will give you a poor answer. What if you used words like this when a challenge comes into your life?

""What can I learn from this challenge so I don't repeat it?""

What's funny about this challenge and how can I have fun solving it?""

You see better words produce a better question. A better question will produce a better answer.

Pretty simple but so powersful.

Here's a perfect example of how Self-Talk will empower you. Let's say someone is having a bad day, and you have the joy of running into this person.

And this person is more then happy to piss all over your day because they feel it's their duty to ruin yours and everyone else's day. You know the saying ""If I'm having a bad day everybody else is going to"".

I DON'T THINK SO!!!

Because of my Self-Talk nobody gets to decide how my day is going to be but me. So my Self-Talk to that person is ""I will not get involved in other people's drama and I refuse to allow negativity into my life"".

If that's my self-talk do you think I'm going to have a bad day just because someone else is? If someone is so hell bent on having a bad day let them, but you don't have to.

Why would you want to be a passenger in your own life and allow people to determine what you're going to experience? Take control of your life right NOW!!

Here are some samples of different words you can use to start changing your vocabulary:

Go from Depressed to Not on top of it Go from Failing to Learning Go from I hate to I prefer Go from Irritated to stimulated Go from Overwhelmed to Busy Go from Stressed to Energized Go from Rejected to Overlooked

You get the idea.

Now create empowering phrases you say to yourself each day. Say your Self-Talk each morning and during the day (and when ever you need to) and before you go to bed each night.

If all you do is fill you mind with empowering words and phrases you'll attract everything you want in life. (You're still going to have to work for things, but you'll be working smart not hard)

To get you kick started here is some of my daily Self-Talk:

""Helping people achieve their goals and dreams using no agenda and expect nothing in return. I will achieve all my goals and dreams"". This one was inspired from Zig Ziggler.

""I will not get involved in other people's drama and I refuse to allow negativity into my life"" Wow how does that set up my day compared to other people?

""Being truthful each day is the best gift I can give myself and others"". I think the boy scouts are onto something.

Here is what my team says about our business:

""We are building the largest most profitable, highest retention organization ever built in the history of network marketing easily and consistently through education and teamwork"" Enough said on that one.

Before I end this there is one more thing. Words create pictures in our mind. People with great memories use pictures to remember things.

You've heard of athletes using visualization. A runner sees himself/herself getting out of the blocks perfectly, sees themselves straightening up and getting into full stride perfectly, they see themselves crossing the finish line first and powerfully.

My success in life and in network marketing is largely due to my Self-Talk and visualization (yes and hard work). Do you think anyone becomes successful if they are always saying, ""I'll never achieve anything"", ""It's to hard""?

The difference between successful people and non-successful people is, successful people do what other people won't do. THINK ABOUT IT!!!!

MLM Training: How To Call Bad Leads - Part 2

In How to Call Bad Leads Part 1, we talked about the first step, in a three-step process, for successfully opening a recruiting call. The first move causes the prospect to become slightly confused. As they attempt to regroup, we use our second move.

Conversational Recruiter: ""Bob, this is a sales call. I'm going to ask you one question, and it's going to take 30 seconds of your time. If the answer is 'no,' the call is over. Is it okay if I go ahead and ask you the question?""

So, what did we accomplish with this second move?

First, we told the prospect that this is a sales call. Now the prospect probably guessed this already, but we were bold enough to tell the prospect why we are calling. This has never happened before. Sales people are never this up front and honest. We just gained some points with the prospect.

Second, we told the prospect that we are going to only ask him one question, and it will only take 30 seconds of his time. The prospect is thinking that this isn't going to take long, and I'll soon be rid of this person. In fact, the prospect might be thinking that in another 30 seconds, I can go back to watching my Three's Company marathon. And, if I give this person any resistance, this call might take a while. I don't want to make a mistake like I did a few seconds ago.

Third, we tell the prospect if his answer is 'no,' the call is over. The prospect is thinking that this is going to be easy. I say 'no,' and Three's Company, here I come. But did you notice what we didn't say? That's right. We didn't say what would happen if he says anything other than 'no.' There are no other options to the prospect. This allows the prospect to relax.

The prospect is thinking, what kind of sales person is this? Sales people never want to hear 'no,' right? Haven't we all been taught that we should get the prospect saying 'yes'? Build up an army of yes's, and when you ask the closing question, the prospect will say 'yes.' Well, that never worked for me. Not once. And I tried it hundreds of time before I decided that it was just bad advice.

Prospects aren't stupid; they can smell obvious manipulation a mile away. That's why that tactic doesn't work. Maybe prospects fell for it back in the 30s, when it was conceived, but it sure doesn't work now.

Fourth, we ask the prospect if it is okay to ask the one question. Again, the prospect is thinking, ask the question; I say 'no'; the call is over; I go back to Chrissy, Jack, the other girl, and Mr. Roper. I think I can handle this. Go ahead and ask your question, pal, I've got 'no' written all over it. Just ask the questions, I've got a show to watch.

The prospect has just gotten out of his daze of confusion. He thinks he is back in control. All is right with the world. It truly is a false sense of security because by allowing us to go ahead and ask our one question, the prospect is 2/3 of the way into our recruiting process... and he doesn't even know it.

We are a couple of moves away from checkmate. I hope he is recording his show.

I know, I know, I said opening the call involved three steps. Well, the next step involves a series of small moves. The best part is, it doesn't matter what the prospect says. If the prospect says, 'no' to our question, the call is far from over. You'll see why in the next, and last, article in this series.

Learn The Secrets Of Successful Network Marketers And Avoid The Three Common Mistakes That Almost All MLM Business Owners Make...And build your MLM empire.

Let's face it 90% of American adults want to make extra money in addition to their jobs. But most entrepreneur wannabees don't have the training and coaching to successfully make it on their own. One way to make life easier on such an endeavor is if you take the time to learn the lessons of others without having to live them yourself you can shorten the steep learning curve. Which is what this article can help you do so you can make money on your own and divorce yourself from the rat race. So let's get to it.

Mistake number 1 people make in network marketing is they don't have the marketing system nor the people skills to be successful in business as a distributor. You must get those people skills because network marketing is NOT a sales business, but a people building business. I know some of you will say, ""you must move product or perform a service to make money."" I don't disagree with you. But know this the only reason people buy from you is because they buy YOU.

Network marketing is a business of creating relationships, and friendships, and partnerships and leaderships. It's a business of know, like and trust. Trust is where it all begins my friend. If a potential customer doesn't trust you will you win them over and gain their patronage? No. Probably not. So understanding people is critical to winning them over without trying to ""close the deal."" People don't care how much you know, but how much you care about them. Win them over to your corner with empathy. Not feigned empathy (by seeing them as another paycheck), but genuine and sincere empathy.

Moreover, network marketing is comprised of 95% part-timers. So you must have a marketing system that works for the part-time distributor if you want to create that ongoing, reoccurring, residual, passive income. Instead of a system that works for the five percentile. Because part-timers will struggle and fail then quit with a bad taste in their mouths. The industry has seen too many casualties.

Mistake number 2 is that people don't believe in themselves. They don't believe they deserve success. They don't belief that they can have a loving relationship; a great career; a thriving business; their dream car and home. They don't believe they deserve to live their dreams and desires and live life on their terms, to own their life. They don't believe they have as much right to everything their heart desires. Nor expect the very best in life (be it a lavish lifestyle or simple abundance) for themselves. So they just settle for mediocrity - for second best.

The third mistake is the most critical mistake. It's when new comers join a sham company without realizing it. All the training, all the mentoring, all the coaching, all the guidance and all the help won't save you if you make this critical mistake. And you'll probably wind up a bilked and battered distributor.

You can avoid such abuse by doing you 'due diligence'. This is more imperative than ever because the one issue of growing concern is: Who is looking out for you, the distributor?

In other words, how many mlm companies out there are truly distributor-friendly ... meaning, that really value them by putting the distributor's interests above their own interests, i.e. profits?

A few? Maybe. I hope more than that.

Unfortunately some distributors got swindled by their company's executives who chose to double-cross them by modifying their compensation plan, or make the distributor jump through a few hoops to get their 'paycheck' so they, the mlm business ersatz can line their pockets with commissions instead of paying the distributor who rightfully earned it. And, if they miss just 1 step their check is forfeited, in effect. Or, get expelled and loose one's position in the organization without notice.

Companies have terminated their loyal employees just before they retire after they have given them 20+ years of service so the corporate executives can keep that pension the employee worked hard for. What's the difference?

MLM scams are nothing more than a 'sucker's bet' for the unsuspecting distributor just like when Ponzi bilked unsuspecting ""investors"" with his scheme 100 years ago. If the distributor makes any money it's because the mlm ersatz is ""throwing them a bone"" ... until they decide to pull the rug out from under them and keep the commissions for themselves or payoff the attorney(s) on retainer.

Carnegie's essay ""The Gospel of Wealth"" (1889) set forth his idea that rich men are ""trustees"" of their wealth and should administer it for the good of the public.

Today, we, network marketers, should expect owner/executives in mlm companies to have integrity and act with probity. But, today that is not the case in all companies.

What could be more odious in the mlm industry than business ersatz swindling their distributors, vis-à-vis executive fiat to ""alter the deal"", in some way?

Scams leave clues, much like the legitimate bizops. IF the distributor does their 'due diligence' they would have the prescience, so to speak, to avoid the scam and not get ripped-off by any mlm ersatz. Unfortunately, the ""terms & conditions"" contract, a.k.a. ""Policies & Procedures"" can be SO long, 35, 35 or even up to nearly 70 pages long, that it may feel like trying to ""find a needle in a haystack"" when reading to find any devious or slick ""gatchas"" peppered throughout. Moreover, the distributor is a customer FIRST because they make the company, therefore, are the company. So the only reason the mlm ersatz makes ANY money is because the customer-distributor moves product thru consumption, retailing and building the business through distributor sign-ups.

Now for some good news. You, the distributor can seek retribution from back-stabbing larceny by getting even, in a way.

How? You can and should dump the company. By resigning you take with you your most precious assets you worked for that nobody can ever take from you.

Such assets would be your leadership skills; your business building skills ... and bring as many team members with you as you can. For, this economic repudiation withers away the sham.

You now have the wisdom and experience to achieve the same income level quicker. And more.

So, how well does your mlm company measure up?

Hopefully you found your home (and not marry a sham).

However, you can't be too careful, can you?

Network Marketing Recruiting - The 'Long Tail' Theory

If YOU don't understand ""The Long Tail"" of network marketing recruiting, your chance of success is pretty small.

Thousands, tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands ... probably millions of people have quit network marketing, totally frustrated, thinking they failed.

The truth is, they just worked the wrong theory.

The Long Tail is a different way of looking at MLM. In the heavy hitters' business model, you buy leads, call the leads, 98% don't join, it's over, burn 'em off, next, next, next. And the 2% who do join you get disillusioned by no income in the first 6 weeks, so they're off to some other pie-in-the-sky bizop.

versus ... in the Long Tail model, you offer people a valuable freebie in exchange for their contact information. Then you call them up, you talk, you find out what they want & need, you offer them help, you build ""know, like & trust"" with them.

You continue contacting them at least once a month and over time, they'll begin to join you in your business. The result is, you are leveraging every minute and dollar you spend to the maximum. And you wind up with people who really want to be in business with you ...

***People Who Will Actually Build YOUR Business***

Network marketing recruiting is a relationship-building process for 2 main reasons:

1. You can't sell a lick and you know it - so there's no chance you'll ever build any kind of business based on you selling something or recruiting somebody. That is why buying a list of leads from some unknown source - or even a known source - makes no sense whatsoever.

2. Your #1 goal is to create an income to support the lifestyle you want, an income which you can pass down to your children's children. That means you must find business partners who will stick around. And that means you can't just sell them something. You have to build a relationship with them ... which you may do quickly ... or which may take months or years.

The key is to make time work for you. If you're just burning through a list of purchased names, you are always fighting time, because none of those people has had the time to get to know you. But if your goal is to ""stock the pond"" with real business partner prospects, and build a relationship, then time is working in your favor. The longer they know you, the more contacts you'll make with them, the more likely they'll start to see YOU as someone very special in this business.

***People Haven't Changed Much Over The Last Thousand Years***

They still want love. They want passion in their personal lives and their professional lives. They want self-satisfaction & health, security & achievement, freedom & trust, fun & financial independence.

People will still want these things a thousand years from now.

The mistakes I see people make in this business astonish me ... the wrong directions they take and the worthless busywork they do.

If you want happiness and fortune & fulfillment in your life, if you want a lifetime of luck, you need to create relationships with people. To do that, you need to study people and understand them. If you will only do that, the opportunities you'll be presented with are endless.

For you to have great success, it's critical that you have that ""Long Tail"" viewpoint of building relationships. Over time, those relationships will pay off for you.

That's why you must promote YOURSELF to people, not some product or company. Unexpected things can happen to products or companies. But if you build the relationship of YOU and that person, then eventually, there's a good chance you are the one they will come to for help and/or advice ... and/or your business opportunity, whatever it is at that particular time.

***It's Not The Product Or The Company Or Even The Money That Is The Magic***

Most people focus on the money. Recruit someone today. Sell a product today. When they call people, they churn & burn. If a prospect won't join now, today, then hang up and call the next one.

The problem is, people quickly spot that ""me first"" attitude. It's what they've come to expect. It gets you nowhere except frustrated and out of the network marketing business.

It's time to realize that the magic isn't the product, the company, or the money. The magic is YOU.

One way to make money in any market is to simply be there and see things in their early stages. Get involved and contribute to others in the same market. I learned long ago how important it is to your financial success & your happiness to be able to predict the future, by seeing things as they really are now.

***See Into The Future***

You can do that, too ... all it takes is a strong commitment. Understand the problems people have in network marketing, and what causes them, and what the solutions are. And if you know that much, it's easy to build value-based relationships with people, because they will know that you are sincere, that the information you are giving them is true ... and that you are helping them.

This is all I have ever done in network marketing, and I promise you, it works like crazy. This very article is a perfect example.

The majority still believe network marketing recruiting is a sales process. There are very, very few who realize that the big organizations are built by people who understand The Long Tail ... the value of building long-term relationships.

Most people are still focused on making money right now, this afternoon at the latest. But for the money to happen, you must first be a person willing to give value to others with no expectation of return. And your plan should be to continue doing exactly that, over time, so that you can take advantage of The Long Tail of network marketing recruiting.

Laying Down a Track To Run On Training the New Network Marketing Distributor - Step 1 of 3

Most people who get into a network marketing program want things to happen quickly. Initial presentations usually touch on the way money can be made, and the numbers often look staggering. What most of those initial presentations don't explain is how difficult it is to get started and to acquire the skills needed for success in network marketing.

For many new distributors, this is their first venture into network marketing. They are unsure about how to begin and often are tentative in their initial approaches. That can be the ""kiss of death"" for a presentation. After all, who wants to go into business with someone who is not sure about what they are doing?

To be successful in network marketing, new distributors need to learn from someone who is already successful. When new distributors know how to proceed, they can build their downline with confidence. Only one person in a hundred is a ""self-starter."" The other 99 will require that you invest time into their success, and show them how to begin.

There are three steps to building your downline: 1. Laying Down A Track to Run On 2. Being a Good MLM Sponsor 3. Working Depth With Your MLM Downline

Today, let's talk about the first step, i.e.

Step 1 -- Laying Down A Track to Run On

Making sure your downline has a ""track to run on"" means they must first learn about the company: * facts and information about the management team; * product features and benefits; * compensation plan and how you make money; * enrolling prospects and order processing; * who your upline is; and * developing their presentation portfolio.

In addition to the above, having a track to run on involves knowing how to: * develop effective communication skills, i.e. to speak with people in a way that reduces tension, neutralizes objections, and increases participation; * use tools (e.g. websites, CDs & DVDs, newspapers, brochures, etc.); * promote home meetings, regional gatherings and conventions; * share information with warm and cold market, leads, referrals; * edify upline leaders; and * conduct an effective 3 way call.

When you sign up a new distributor, immediately have them make a list of ten prospects. Then, you should send each of those prospects some company information and a short note stating that you are sending the information to them at the request of a mutual friend. If you have an informational website, include the URL in your letter. After the information has gone out, have your new distributors follow up with their prospects and set up a three-way call. When you do this, you (1) get your new distributors to immediately begin building their organization, (2) get sponsor and distributor working together, and (3) your new distributors will know what to do when they sign up someone, i.e. exactly what you have done for them! This stimulates business and creates tremendous momentum in the downline.

Sounds simple, but many sponsors violate this strategy. If it's done right, and your new distributors see how easy your success is to duplicate, you will find that them running on that same track, teaching their downline how to get started. You'll see business builders emerging, and that's when your business will really take off.

Why You Will Fail In Network Marketing-- Unless You Read This!

Did you know that 90% of all people in the network marketing fail! That's correct 9 out of every 10 people that come into this business will never achieve their hopes and dreams. One of my favorite quotes is, ""Success leaves clues."" But so does failure. So if you want to be successful, do what the successful people have done. If you want to avoid failure... avoid doing what the people who have failed have done.

People flock to network marketing because of the simplicity of the system. They hear that the opportunity is a turn-key system that succeeds for everyone who follows it. So why do people fail, in record numbers in such a system? They fail because, they pick and choose which parts to follow and which parts not to follow.

A system will not work if you do not follow ALL of the steps. It's like following the directions on a map. If you turn left when you are suppose to turn right, you may eventually get to your final destination, but it may take you much longer. You may even end up lost in the wilderness. And if you have a team of people following you, you may lead them astray in to that same wilderness.

So, what are the 4 key mistakes most people make who fail in this business?

1. They talk too much. Most of you in your excitement about your new business will try and go out and explain it to everyone you know, expecting them to be as enthusiastic as you are. This is a mistake! Although most people don't admit it, they make decisions on an emotional basis and THEN use logic to support their decision. You are excited about your business because you are emotionally invested in it. After you got emotionally invested then your brain came up with the logical reasons why you could do this business. Your friends and family work the same way. Follow the system that is in place weather it's a video presentation or sizzle or conference call. These have been designed to push the emotional buttons of your prospects FIRST, then the logical ones. Follow your scripts! Before adding words check with your up-line. It is amazing how adding just 2 or 3 extra words can make or brake your business. Also you want to keep the process as simple as possible. Remember this business is about duplicating success. Always KISS your business (Keep It Simple, Silly). That way your downline will be able to duplicate your success.

2. They fail to do something everyday. Your business, my business, almost any business is built on momentum. It is always harder to get it started, but once it gets started, it is easier to maintain. But once you stop, you have to start the hard process of getting started again. Think about that diet or workout you may have started at once upon a time. I'm sure you decided that I am going to get in shape or lose weight. You may have started off great, but then... you miss that one work out or you cheat that one day, thinking ""Its just one day!"" But that one day makes it easier to skip another day. Then it becomes a week... Now you have to start all over again. Make doing something everyday a habit. They say it takes a habit 21 days to develop. Prospect consistently for 21 days. It will seem hard at first, but in 21 days, it will be almost second nature. You may not see the benefits today, but with 30-90 days of consistent action, you will definitely notice some results.

3. They Don't Treat Their Business Like A Business. You have to invest in your business. In network marketing the asset that you have to invest the most is your time. We are all given 86,400 seconds in each day to invest. What we don't use, we lose. We can not save any on the seconds that we do not use. Therefore, we do not have any ""spare"" time. It is either used or lost forever. In other words you can work your business full time or part time, but not in your spare time. Plan the hours that your business will be open and work during those hours. It could be 7 hours a week or 70 hours a week. Just plan out that time and use it effectively. Spend 80% of your working time prospecting. The other 20% should be used training your downline and self development. Now you can use the hours outside of your work time to do extra prospecting, team building or self development, but think of this as overtime, which will pay off in the future.

4. They Quit Too Soon. Less Brown wrote a book, ""Its Not Over Until You Win"" I truly believe that is one of the biggest problems with people in this industry. People give up too soon. You wouldn't quit your job if they didn't make you a national director or vice-president in 3 months of (inconsistent at best) part-time work. So why should you expect it here. However, statistically it takes more than 10 years of grueling dedicated hours to become senior management in the corporate world. In the network marketing field, over 90% of the people who stay around for more than 3 years reach a senior sales level, working part time. What sounds like a better deal to you? Stay with it. Don't quit. If you do, the clock will start all over again. Remember, its not over until you win!

Nine out of 10 people fail in this industry because they are not willing to work hard and are looking for easy money. You don't have to be one of the failures. The road to network marketing success is filled with obstacles. It is your decision if you are going to use them as stumbling block or stepping stones. Also, don't get fooled by the simplicity of system. They system is very simple, but it is not always easy!

Arm Your Downline For Success

Hamlet may not have been talking about network marketing, but his words do apply. Almost every network marketer has experienced the ""slings and arrows"" of the naysayers, those often well-meaning friends and relatives that stand in the way of our making an ""outrageous fortune!"" Experienced network marketers, clothed in the armor of past success, are less vulnerable to outside influences. The new distributor, however, is vulnerable, and that ""sea of troubles"" can act as a barrier to reaching their true potential.

What did the knights of old do to prevent an injury? That's right - they armed themselves. Their armor was heavy and cumbersome, and they needed a squire to help them prepare for battle. Well, the same is true for your new distributors. While the armor they must use is less cumbersome than that of the knights, you must help them arm themselves for success. In other words, you must be their squire.

What do I mean by ""arming for success?""

When a new distributor joins your network marketing organization, they are moving into an environment that demands strong armor. There are a lot of ""slings and arrows"" that can hurt their chances for success and create a sea of troubles -- of doubt, disbelief, even failure.

As Rich Dad, Poor Dad author Robert T. Kiyosaki points out, most people in this world are afraid to experience success. They are held back by negative thinking, and consequently suffer the pain of mediocrity. Because they have not been armed for success, and are more focused on security and survival, they subject themselves to a life of servitude and poverty and being someone else's employee.

Arm your new distributors from negative thinking and potential disaster. How? By understanding why so many people are negative about network marketing and the prospects of the success it can bring.

Let's face it. There are a lot of people out there that do not want you to become successful. When you are successful, you point out the lack of success in their lives. When you take away any excuses they've been hanging onto and you force them to look at their lives as they really are, it makes them very uncomfortable. You've heard of the expression ""Misery loves company."" Well, it's true.

Doug Firebaugh, network marketing guru, calls it the ""Unspoken Understanding,"" which is simply the silent agreement that most people have with each other, namely ""don't mention my mediocre life, and I won't mention yours."" Your success and the success of your new distributors, just points out the naysayers' mediocrity.

Leaders help others. If you are going to be successful in network marketing, you must arm your new distributors against people who will try to convince them their business won't work. Show your downline you want them to be successful. Encourage them. Show them how the most successful network marketers have achieved their success, and teach them to model those attitudes, habits, and actions. Remind your distributors that they are the CEO of their lives. Arm them with the power of positive thinking so they don't let others live their lives for them with their negative attitudes.

To paraphrase Hamlet, by opposing negative thoughts, we end them.

Training the New Network Marketing Distributor: Working Depth With Your MLM Downline - Step 3 of 3

In Step 1, ""Laying Down a Track to Run On,"" we talked about how to get your new distributor started the right way. In Step 2 ""Being a Good MLM Sponsor,"" we discussed how you should go over ""The Rules"" of your operation with your downline so they can develop the discipline to grow their (and YOUR!) business. In this, the third step of the series, we'll discuss ""Working Depth,"" or making it too expensive for your downline to leave the business!""

Step 3 -- Working Depth With Your MLM Downline Working depth means sponsoring your downline when they sponsor their new distributors. It means assisting your business partners to help them get their downline (and YOURS!) started the right way.

Essentially, you're taking the track that you've laid out for your downline to run on and getting them to pass that knowledge on to their personally sponsored distributors. Naturally, they're going to need help helping others and that's where you, as their sponsor, come in. This is the essence of network marketing, i.e. building relationships and helping others succeed.

How deep should you go? Theoretically, you only have to go down two levels, i.e. lay out the track for the people you enroll and for the people they enroll. If everyone follows that format, the method perpetuates itself.

In reality, however, not everyone is going to approach the business the same way. Some will work a their own pace (usually more slowly than you would like!), or will want to ""tweak"" the methodology to fit their style. So, don't just think ""one or two levels."" Realize that you can do this with EVERYONE in your downline that's willing to be coached, whether you personally sponsored them or not. The downline pays the upline; if a new distributor enters your downline, and is willing to work to grow the business, why wouldn't you work with them? They may not bring money to you directly, but they will bring it to you indirectly. Who pays the downline that pays you? Their downline. Your success depends on their success, so don't be afraid to work deep into your organization.

Remember, one of your goals should be to make it too expensive for your downline to leave the business! If you don't build builders, you'll never acquire the lifestyle that can come from having a significant passive residual income stream.

In closing, let me reiterate something from Part 2 - you can't change human nature. People will only do what they are willing to do. However, people can change themselves if they are willing to change. Being a good sponsor means showing your downline the benefits of (a) following a proven track, (b) being a good sponsor themselves, and (c) working depth.

When you work with your downline to create an independent network of builders, and help them to develop other builders who, in turn, develop more builders, you've found the winning formula.

One last thought: don't take it personally if some of your downline distributors don't turn into dynamic business builders. As long as you have done your part in educating them, you've done all you can do. You can't build their business for them. While you can provide inspiration, they must provide the perspiration!

Work with your distributors; give them tasks to accomplish each time you contact them. But, that's about all you can do. If they don't want to build their business and be responsible for their own success, then you must spend your time on those who have earned it, i.e. those who are willing to take responsibility.
